Solid Surface in School Facilities: Cleaning, Chemicals and Project Approval

School washrooms, dining areas and laboratories place different demands on work surfaces. Solid surface selection should match the actual exposure and maintenance routine. The project photographs retained below provide application context; they do not establish a universal approval for every school or laboratory.

Washrooms and shared facilities

Nonporous surfaces and well-designed joints can make routine cleaning more straightforward. They do not prevent all bacterial growth or replace cleaning and disinfection. Specify accessible basin shapes, drainage, supports and cleaning products that are compatible with the chosen material.

Dining and service areas

Plan protection from hot equipment, direct cutting and impacts. Ask for applicable product documentation when food-contact approval is required. Select a finish suited to frequent use, and agree how marks or damage will be assessed and repaired.

Laboratory worktops

List the actual chemicals, concentrations, exposure times and heat sources before approval. General claims of stain or heat resistance are insufficient for laboratory service. KSTONE’s archived test tables include affected results for some chemicals; request current data for the chosen grade and consider alternatives where exposures exceed its limits.

Approve the full installation

Check project-specific fire, hygiene, accessibility and installation requirements with the responsible project team. Record the exact grade, colour, thickness, cleaning method and warranty scope. Verify named reference projects through supporting records before using them in procurement decisions.
