Solid Surface Brands: How to Build a Project Shortlist

A brand list is a starting point for research, not a quality ranking. Choose the specific solid surface product that meets your project, with an approved sample and documents covering the intended application.

Compare products within the same category

Distinguish acrylic solid surface, modified acrylic, laminate, engineered quartz and natural stone. A supplier may sell several categories. A familiar brand or the phrase “solid surface” in a catalogue does not make every product equivalent.

Shortlist by project needs

List required colours, finish, dimensions, joints, curves, cleaning agents and maintenance support. Consider who will fabricate, install and repair the surface locally. Evaluate product availability for the project’s destination.

Review evidence

Request current product data, safety information, relevant reports and written warranty terms. Check the exact product scope rather than transferring one collection’s certification to another. Approve a physical sample under final lighting.

Compare total cost and service

Use the same quantity and specification for all quotations. Separate raw sheets from fabrication, delivery and installation. A generic brand ranking cannot establish a price saving, lead time or suitable repair network for your order.

Keep substitutions controlled

If the specification names a brand, submit alternatives to the client or designer for approval before ordering. Record the agreed grade, colour code and sample.

Use the manufacturer qualification steps and substitution approval checklist. Contact KSTONE with your specification and drawings for product-specific guidance.
