Custom Solid Surface Basins: A Drawing and Approval Checklist

A custom solid surface basin order needs more than a shape reference. The drawing should connect the visible design with drainage, mounting, support and cleaning requirements. Approve those details before fabrication and shipment.

Define the geometry

Provide overall dimensions, bowl dimensions, rim or deck width, edge details and finished surface. Identify tap locations, splashbacks and adjacent countertops. State which dimensions are critical for site fit and how tolerances will be checked.

Coordinate drainage and plumbing

Specify the drain fitting, opening size, overflow arrangement and plumbing access. Confirm the bowl profile and drainage on the approved design or prototype. Do not assume an attractive rendering establishes drainage performance or compliance with the project’s plumbing requirements.

Agree mounting and support

Clarify whether the basin is freestanding, wall-mounted, cabinet-supported or integrated into a counter. Fixings and supports need to carry the actual product and service loads. Confirm transport handling and installation access, especially for long or multi-user basins.

Approve appearance and care

Review the colour, finish and visible joints with physical samples. Ask whether the item is moulded or fabricated, and discuss feasible repairs for the selected construction. Nonporosity assists cleaning but does not remove routine maintenance; use compatible cleaners and avoid impacts or strong solvents.

Release the order

Sign off the final drawing, quantity, packaging, inspection points and delivery terms. Request the product-specific documents and written warranty rather than relying on a general “best choice” claim.
