A manufacturer shortlist is useful only when the candidates can meet the actual specification. Use a documented qualification process instead of an unsupported “top 10” ranking.
Prepare the enquiry
Define grade, colour, sheet dimensions, quantity, application and destination. Distinguish raw sheets from finished components. Include drawings, tolerances, finish and delivery requirements when fabrication is part of the offer.
Check the company and product
Confirm the contracting entity, manufacturing location, relevant capabilities and the product documents. Ask which processes are in-house and which are outsourced. A famous brand name or a factory photograph is not proof of your order’s specification.
Approve samples and a trial
Inspect physical samples and a finished joint. For curved or complex components, approve a representative prototype. Agree quality criteria and batch identification before a trial order.
Compare like-for-like quotations
Review dimensions, cutting yield, adhesive, packing, delivery term, exclusions, payment terms and quote validity. Check replacement and claim responsibilities. Do not compare a sheet-only quotation with an installed project price.
Inspect and document delivery
Agree inspection records for colour, dimensions, defects and packing. Check the delivered goods against the approved specification before fabrication and retain traceable records.
