Solid Surface Manufacturers: How to Review Product Documents

A useful manufacturer comparison includes the actual product documents, not only brand descriptions. Build a document checklist around the intended application and destination.

Technical and safety data

Request the product code, grade, available dimensions, physical data and fabrication guidance. Obtain the safety data sheet for sheets and adhesive as applicable. Check revision dates and whether the documents describe the exact products quoted.

Test reports

Look for sample identity, test method, conditions, results and date. A report for one sample does not necessarily cover all colours, thicknesses or current production. A testing laboratory’s name does not itself establish certification.

Project-specific certificates

Identify what the client requires for fire, emissions, food contact or other uses. Check scope and validity for the offered product. Do not assume another brand’s evidence applies to a substitute.

Warranty and supply terms

Read the coverage, exclusions, claim requirements and responsible party. Compare it separately from an estimated service life. Confirm inspection, replacement, packing and delivery arrangements in the quotation.

Close the approval loop

Match the written specification to the approved sample and delivered batch. Keep the documents available for the fabricator and customer.
