Solid surface can be considered for shower wall panels and selected fabricated components. Its non-porous surface and large-panel format can simplify cleaning, but the complete shower system still needs appropriate waterproofing, joints, drainage and support.

Wall panels

Confirm the substrate, attachment method, movement allowance and joint details. Plan corners, penetrations and interfaces with the shower base. A surface that does not absorb water does not automatically make the wall assembly waterproof.

Shower trays and bases

Review fall, drainage, support, slip performance, accessibility and any product or local requirements. A countertop sheet is not automatically a tested shower tray. Approve the actual fabricated design and relevant documents before production.

Cleaning and service

Use approved cleaners and keep joints and drainage clean. Non-porous does not mean antibacterial or maintenance-free. Solid surface may scratch; repairs depend on finish, access and the nature of damage.

Agree the supply scope

Specify whether the supplier provides sheets, finished panels or a complete fabricated base. Include dimensions, tolerances, colour, finish, fixing and installation responsibilities. Ask who covers material and installation defects under the written warranty.
